THIS SATURDAY 3/7! Respected LadyLand In-Person DANCE PARTY!

THIS Saturday is my annual in-person Women’s History Month DANCE PARTY at the Kenton Club! Come dance with your community & celebrate the trailblazing women of the record industry’s golden era: the ’50s, ’60s, & early ’70s. Joining me on the decks is everyone’s favorite record store queen, DJ Cuica (Karen Antunes)!

The happenings in the world this week are upsetting, to say the least. I never want to seem oblivious as the world burns. Truthfully, I’m moving forward because of these harrowing times just hoping to offer a little respite, maybe even some musical therapy.

With this party (& my radio show), I keep thinking about how easily history gets lost in chaos. There’s a false sense that the battle for women in the music business has already been won. Beyoncé can reign, Billie Eilish can speak boldly, Cardi B revels in authenticity, & Taylor Swift can make piles of money doing whatever it is she feels like doing.  However, none of it exists in isolation. Generations of brilliant women, onstage & behind the scenes, fought to bust those gates open. And if we want them to stay open & further widen- the fight continues.

Our voices matter. A full spectrum of voices is paramount. The establishment is working overtime to silence them. KEEP BEING LOUD!

So join us Saturday at the Kenton Club, 8pm–midnight, to celebrate the women who got us here, feel some joy and love, and strengthen our resolve.

And yes... a sign of the times: I somehow forgot to put the venue on the flyer. Personal bandwidth = low. But I promise to still deliver the FUN!
