It was a rough weekend for Portland, Oregon as we lost two Portland music legends. First, beloved Portland soul & gospel legend Linda Hornbuckle passed away. She kept the soul flame brightly burning in Portland for decades, LONG before there was a vibrant "soul dance party" scene in this town.
Then band leader and keyboard player Paul Revere, of Paul Revere and the Raiders passed away. Though the Raiders time in Portland was brief, they are forever sown into the fabric of Portland's musical heritage. The Raiders brought Pacific Northwest R&B garage grit to the masses. Today's Record of the Day is one I frequently spin at my soul and r&b parties. It's the band's 1966 cover of Jessie Hill's New Orleans classic. RIP Linda and Paul. There's a gaping hole in Portland's soul today.

DJ Action SlacksI'm excited to highlight some of my favorite records in a variety of genres (soul, R&B, classic country, rockabilly, oldies, garage rock, etc). These won't all necessarily be "dance" records per se. They will all be records that I believe deserve a special listen. I simply love good music, rare or not. Hopefully you will spend some time here and love music right along with me! Lets give this a shot! Categories
